Yield-drop root-cause analysis
The agent correlates a yield drop with process, material and equipment data and proposes ranked root-cause hypotheses.
When first-pass yield falls, a quality engineer exports lot data from the MES, pulls SPC charts, checks the historian for parameter drift and asks the warehouse about material lots. Each source has its own identifiers and time stamps. Aligning them in Excel takes one to three days, and the investigation often stops at the first plausible cause. Meanwhile the line keeps producing scrap or the parts go to containment.
Systems used- Pulls affected lots, routing steps and defect codes from the MES and SAP QM inspection lots.
- Aligns lot genealogy with historian tags and SPC data for the same time window and equipment.
- Compares good and bad lots across material batches, tools, shifts and process parameters to rank candidate causes.
- Checks each hypothesis against past 8D records and known failure modes in the PFMEA.
- Delivers a short evidence report with charts, ranked hypotheses and suggested verification tests.
- Time to confirmed root cause
- Scrap cost per incident
- First-pass yield recovery time
- Repeat defect rate
